How to reply to this post? I am grateful for such nice classmates and an understanding Professor. This class has helped me put order to my thoughts, and understand the meaning of community and population health. The notions acquired continue to show that there is an ongoing chain process in nursing from using Apothecary measures to having assistance from an AI today in almost everything. I’ve learned how to better assess a community and make a parallel between the time of assessment, learned how to see the vulnerabilities and strengths of an area. The assessment tools provided a meaningful insight into my knowledge. My communication skills have improved, I can sustain an argument based on facts that I can provide and refer others if they are looking for assistance. I can work collaboratively with local community organizations, give input, and guide them in decision-making all because methods and tools that were available to me. The guidance received helped me to realize the different factors that can contribute to mental health issues and the stigma that lies within our communities, families, workplaces, etc., and how culture plays a significant role in healthcare. I was able to learn through the Project Practicum how to manage population health, assess important points, collect relevant data, critically think of what might provoke a situation, the SDOH, find strategies that can help improve the situation, work with concerned parties, learned from their experiences and find common ground on how to help our community.
