help rewrite as human: I was exposed to a variety of clinical skills and patient care scenarios. Under the guidance of my RPN preceptor, I learnt and practiced several procedures including blood glucose monitoring, Intravenous (IV) administration of Ertapenem, and observed blood sample collection from a client. I also have experience in flushing IV s with NaCl and using a weighing chair for a patient. In terms of Activities of Daily Living (ADL), I assisted with bed bath, poral care and performed bladder scan using Bladder Volume Instrument (BVI). A significant incident occurred when a patient left her bed and did not return , resulting in a yellow code Initially, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness about learning these new skills. As I practiced under supervision, my confidence grew, especially with repetitive tasks like blood glucose monitoring. The incident with the missing patient was particularly stressful and eye-opening. It made me realize the gravity of patient safety and the importance of constant vigilance in a hospital setting. The range of skills I learned reflects the diverse responsibilities of nurses in a medical unit. Each procedure required attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and consideration of patient comfort and safety. The missing patient incident highlighted the critical nature of patient monitoring and the need for effective communication among healthcare team members. It also emphasized the importance of following proper protocols in emergency situations. This experience has deepened my understanding of nursing practice. I now see that being a nurse involves not just technical skills, but also critical thinking, adaptability, and strong communication skills. The importance of teamwork in ensuring patient safety has become even more apparent to me. I’ve also gained a new appreciation for the complexity of patient care, especially in managing ADLs and monitoring patients with various health conditions. Moving forward, I plan to: 1. Continue refining my clinical skills while always prioritizing patient safety. 2. Improve my ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a busy healthcare environment. 3. Enhance my knowledge of hospital protocols, especially those related to patient safety and emergency situations. 4. Practice clear and effective communication with both patients and healthcare team members. 5. Stay vigilant and proactive in patient monitoring to prevent incidents like the missing patient scenario. 6. Seek opportunities to learn more about specialized equipment like the Bladder Volume instrument to enhance my skills in patient assessment. This experience has reinforced my commitment to becoming a competent and vigilant nurse capable of providing comprehensive care while always ensuring patient safety.
